PRAYER FOCUS OF THE MONTH The Bible says in Proverbs 29:22 "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." It is important for us to pray in agreement with God’s Word concerning those that are in positions of governing authority. House of Prayer
The Bible states in 2 Timothy 3:1, "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." All we have to do is look around to know that we are living in perilous times. Who would have thought even a decade ago that America would be under the siege of evil it is today? What are we as Christians to do? Are we to ignore what is happening not only in our own nation, but what is happening throughout the rest of the world too? Are we to allow ourselves to be overcome by this onslaught of evil, just barely getting along while anxiously awaiting the rapture? No, a thousand times no, through Christ we have been made more than conquerors!
According to Romans 12:21, we are not to be overcome by evil, but we are to do just the opposite and overcome evil with good. One of the major ways we can overcome evil with good is through prayer. Why, because prayer, scriptural prayer, provides an open invitation for God to intervene in the earth? Jeremiah 1:12 says, "...I will hasten my word to perform it" The word hasten means to watch over. In addition, Psalm 103:20, says, "Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that so his commandments, hearkening to the voice of his word."
While some men’s hearts will fail them for fear, because of what they see happening in the earth, we are not to be like them either now or in the future. Jesus told us, "always to pray and not to faint," which is to lack courage or be faint-hearted. As Christians we have been given the name of Jesus and the word of God to use as weapons in prayer to stem the tide of evil not only in America, but in other parts of the world as well.
Weapons are only effective if they are used. For far too long we have allowed the devil to have it his way in our marriages, our families our schools, our nation and so on and so on. If ever there was a time, now is the time to take our place in prayer both individually and corporately for "men ought always to pray and not to faint."
